In the 27th tournament of the 3rd seasonโs league, 29 players from 9 countries participated. This week there were no new entrants. Thus the total number of players still stands at 82. All the players in the top 10 for this tournament are from Afrika: Ghana ๐ฌ๐ญ - 5, Benin ๐ง๐ฏ - 3, & Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ - 2.
mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ won the tournament, with a 6.0 points, losing a game to issahfuseinij ๐ฌ๐ญWell done to him ๐๐๐. issahfuseinij ๐ฌ๐ญ placed 2nd with 6.0 points, drawing with zezero & senateur ๐ฌ๐ผ๐ง๐ฏ๐ง๐ฏgames to mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌย & ๐ง๐ฏ. geotrouvetout ๐ง๐ฏ also with 5.0 points placed 3rd, losing games to mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ & issahfuseinji ๐ฌ๐ญ.ย
abilohre ๐ฌ๐ญ & roberisco ๐ฌ๐ญ placed 4th and 5th respectively. In this edition the top 3 positions were occupied by players from three countries: Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ Ghana ๐ฌ๐ญ & Benin ๐ง๐ฏ. Well done to them & everyone else who participated ๐๐๐.
We applaud the two female players bme ๐บ๐ฌ & vivian256 ๐บ๐ฌ for participating in this tournament. They really give the rest of the other countries some food for thought. Letโs make greater efforts to encourage and facilitate new players, especially female and the youth to participate in these tournaments.
Overall leader the Oga Ota of Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ mrjohnsonโs lead increased with this victory. With 17 wins out of 27, his score is now at 147.5 points. He is still 8.0 points ahead of issahfuseinji ๐ฌ๐ญ. The difference between him and the other top positioned players has increased slightly to 8.0, 41.0 & 42.0 points respectively.
e17 ๐ฐ๐ฟ now in 5th position with 105.5 points withย ๐ฏ participation record. He remains on course to become the Asian Champion. He is 42.0 points away from the leading player mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ, and 64.0 points ahead of goldm ๐ฐ๐ฌ the nearest Asian contender, who has accumulated 41.5 points. paulie42 ๐จ๐ฟ remains with 77.0 points and is still in 9th position, maintaining his leading margin of 12 points against incumbent European champion monkftw ๐ฌ๐ง also stationery with 65.0 points, and is on course to claim the European title. He is 70.5 points away from leading player mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ. American Continental champion daallo ๐ฒ๐ฝ for the 2nd week has been uncharacteristically absent and thus remains with 52.5 points, he is now in 18th position. He is some 95.0 points off the leading points score. He too is on course to maintain his title, and is 8.0 points ahead of germancali ๐จ๐ด the nearest American Continental contender, with 44.5 points & in 22nd position. We continue to observe if other players from the different continents can make up the differences and thwart these predictions becoming a reality.
New players have been joining the league. These however are not in the main coming from countries that have not participated in the league before. Will there be new players including master & grandmasters joining the league to add more dynamism to it. Time will tell, as the players from Antigua & Barbuda ๐ฆ๐ฌ, Barbados ๐ง๐ง, Burkina Faso ๐ง๐ซ, Cape Verde ๐จ๐ป, The Gambia ๐ฌ๐ฒ , Guinea ๐ฌ๐ณ, Guinea Bissau ๐ฌ๐ผ, Mali ๐ฒ๐ฑ, Niger ๐ณ๐ช, Sierra Leone ๐ธ๐ฑ, Saint Lucia ๐ฑ๐จ, Togo ๐น๐ฌ are yet to enter the fray.

Do well to recruit players from these teams to participate in the upcoming practice tournaments in preparation for the championships to come.
Please take note, the top positioned players who are International or Full members of The Oware Society before the league ends, will be awarded cash prizes. Therefore If you place in the top 3, and wish to be considered for a cash award, join The Oware Society before the league ends. The top placed, International or Full members in the female, junior & continental categories will be awarded cash prizes so long as they are Full or International members and enough funds are raised. If enough funds are raised we will consider awarding prizes for country winners, so long as the country is represented by 5 or more players, is not in the top three or a continental champion.
